zombiecardgame:

When you spend time working on a zombie card game, you inevitably find yourself with “zombies on the brain” even in your free time. That’s where this list comes from. These are movies of varying levels of quality that would benefit greatly if a Zombie Apocalypse occurred at some point during their run-time. Genre movies (horror, sci-fi, fantasy, super hero, etc) were not eligible for this list since they seemed to “muddy the waters” a bit too much. So, here they are, in no particular order:

10. The Breakfast Club: It has a great cast that would be interesting to watch interact as the zombie outbreak develops. It’s location also works as the perfect setup for the whole “keep the zombies out” scenario. The potential zombified play on words regarding the title is a definite plus as well.

9. Die Hard: See pretty much everything said for number 10.

8. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation: This movie is already hilarious, can you imagine how great it would get if a bunch of zombies showed up. They couldn’t even handle that one squirrel, what are they going to do with the undead. I’m pretty sure Eddie would have some ideas.

7. Dirty Dancing: Not one of my favorites, but a bunch of zombies could easily change my mind. “Nobody eats Baby in a corner.”

6. BraveHeart: Period film, check. Armies assaulting each other with sharp and bludgeoning weapons, check. A horde of the hungry dead with Mel Gibson screaming “Brains!!” instead of “Freedom!!!”, check yeah!

5. Grease: I personally prefer the second one, but I can’t deny the potential awesomeness of a Zombie John Travolta dancing around and belting out some cheesy 50’s era songs in Zombie.

4. Superbad: I only include this one because I think those two doofus cops would be pretty entertaining fighting the undead. I can’t remember, did the fat kid ever draw a zombie penis?

3. Wall E: I know, it’s sort of a genre film. But I would love to see what Pixar could do with animating the re-animated. Also, the whole not so subtle jab at consumerism would go to a whole new level with the consumers becoming the consumed. Romero would be proud.

2. Alive: Turnabout’s fair play, bitches!

1. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: This movie is already a true classic. It really doesn’t need anything to make it better than it already is. That being said, the final scene with the three of them in the cemetery when they’re getting ready to draw on each other and that music’s playing. Holy shit, if a bunch of zombies started coming out of the ground right then, I think my head would explode.

Night of the Bloodsucking Vampires Is An Homage To Black And White Horror And The Vampire Genre.

It began as a rumor, a Vampire urban legend, of a secret society of Vampires. Some of the oldest and most powerful to ever stalk the earth, coming together for a single dark purpose. Find and awaken the first Vampire, the Master Vampire, the Alpha. A creature so old that its image has been found on Neanderthal cave paintings in Europe. Showing up at various points in History, leaving a swathe of blood and destruction in its wake, before returning to slumber in the dark cold earth. An evil force of un-nature that cannot be killed, only survived, like a storm, until it passes.

Why these Vampires wanted to awaken such a creature was open to speculation. The stories say it killed Vamps as often as Humans. Some said the Society hoped, through its numbers, to influence it to their cause. Others said it was simply boredom, like a child with nothing to do poking a hornet’s nest to see what happens.

Regardless, whispers started circulating a few months ago throughout the undead community that the Society had finally found the Alpha’s resting place in a network of catacombs under an old church. Following some of the Society’s lesser members, the location and time of the awakening was soon discovered. Gathering some of the world’s most proficient Vampire Hunters, you’ve come to stop the Vampires’ plan.

As you storm the catacombs, you quickly realize that you’ve been led into a trap. The Vampires want you here, for they have discovered that blood alone is not enough to raise the Alpha. It needs a reason to awaken. The boredom of millennia is a hard thing to break. The sport of hunting the world’s greatest Vampire Hunters will prove too hard to resist. Your fight for survival will be the catalyst of the very event you’ve come to prevent.

Nonetheless, if you and the other Hunters can kill all the Vamps gathered here quickly enough, maybe The Alpha will lose interest and return to its slumber. Yeah, you don’t believe it either, but it’s the only chance you have now.

Night of the Bloodsucking Vampires is the second in a series of inexpensive, stand alone,  pocket games with similar mechanics and horror themes. Like the “penny dreadful” stories of the 1800s, these games will offer big scares and fun at a small cost. Easy to learn, easy to carry, quick to play, hard to survive!

Come take a trip to Hillbilly Hell

You and your friends thought it would be fun to go on a little backwoods camping trip. You’d heard the rumors about missing campers, but thought it was just stories to frighten tourists. Then, when you found the hidden side trail, you just couldn’t resist a good hike. Now, you’re running for your lives and you know the stories are true.
You can hear some of your friends screaming in the distance, but you have no idea where you are. You just want to find your way out, to escape this place. But those screams, how can you leave your friends behind? Suddenly, you notice the woods around you have gone quiet. Something’s not right.
As you realize you’re not alone, you also remember something one of your friends said- “There’s a reason it’s the road less traveled!”.

Hillbilly Hell is a semi-cooperative game of Horror, Survival, Rescue, and Escape for 1-3 Players. In Hillbilly Hell, you play as a group of lost Hikers that have stumbled into the path of a family of inbred cannibal rednecks. Players must look for a way out while helping one another (if they choose to) survive being hunted for sport, food, or worse. The player whose Hikers can survive or escape, and gain the most Survival Points along the way, wins.

So, come pay Hillbilly Hell a visit. It’s a scenic little destination, but you might want to pass on that “backwoods barbecue”.

zombiecardgame:

All zombie lovers are invited to take a look at Dead Man’s Hand, the game where players are always guaranteed to be dealt a rotten hand!

Dead Man’s Hand is a zombie themed take on Texas Hold’em, a community card poker game, with game play focused as much on the betting as on the cards being played. Some of the terms (blinds/river) have been changed here to more zombie centric ones (appetizers/blood), while others have been kept (flop/turn/showdown) for hopefully obvious reasons. Gameplay is the same as Hold’em except the criteria for determining and ranking winning hands has been changed due to the style of cards used in this version of the game.

Dead Man’s Hand is played on a single table with 2 to 10 players. The game is also played with an assortment of chips for the betting rounds. Traditional poker chips can be used or you can try our Dead Man’s Hand: Poker Chips of the Living Dead for a set of zombie themed chips.

The goal is simple: win as many chips as you can, one pot at a time. You win a pot by having the best hand, or by having all other players fold before the showdown.

A hand of Dead Man’s Hand consists of one to four betting rounds. A hand ends when all players but one have folded, or the fourth and final betting round completes with multiple players still in the hand - whichever comes first. At that point, players enter into the showdown, where remaining players discover who has the best hand.
